"MIB International" is a science fiction action-comedy film released in 2019, directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. It is a spin-off of the popular "Men in Black" film series, which began in 1997.
The film follows the story of Agent M (Tessa Thompson), a young woman who discovers the existence of aliens as a child and has been determined to join the Men in Black organization ever since. After successfully finding and infiltrating the organization's New York City headquarters, she is sent to the MIB's London branch where she meets Agent H (Chris Hemsworth). Together, they must stop an alien threat that could destroy the planet.
One of the highlights of the film is the chemistry between the lead actors. Hemsworth and Thompson had previously worked together in "Thor: Ragnarok" and their natural rapport is on full display here. They play off each other's strengths and weaknesses, delivering witty one-liners and engaging in thrilling action sequences.
The film also introduces several new alien characters, each with their own unique design and personality. The standout of the bunch is Pawny (voiced by Kumail Nanjiani), a tiny alien with a big attitude who becomes a loyal sidekick to the main characters.
The plot of the film is fairly straightforward, with Agent M and Agent H tracking down a dangerous alien weapon that has been stolen from a royal alien family. Along the way, they must also contend with a group of alien mercenaries and a mole within the Men in Black organization.
While the story may not be the most original, the film makes up for it with its visuals and action set-pieces. The CGI effects used to create the various alien creatures are top-notch and the action sequences are well choreographed and exciting. The film also has a number of fun nods to the original "Men in Black" films, including a cameo by Will Smith's character Agent J.
Overall, "MIB International" is an entertaining addition to the Men in Black franchise. It may not reach the heights of the original film, but it is a fun and engaging ride with likable characters, impressive visuals, and exciting action.
