"Captain America: Brave New World" is the fourth installment in the Captain America film series and the 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Released on February 14, 2025, it continues the story of Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, who assumes the mantle of Captain America following the events of the television miniseries "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (2021).

In this film, Sam Wilson investigates a conspiracy involving the President of the United States, Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, played by Harrison Ford. The narrative delves into political intrigue and challenges faced by Wilson as he embraces his new role as Captain America.

Reception


The film received mixed reviews from critics, holding a 49% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audiences responded more favorably, granting it an 80% approval rating. Financially, the movie grossed approximately $341.8 million worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of 2025. Despite this, it underperformed relative to expectations, considering its $180 million production budget. 


Future of the Franchise


Anthony Mackie has expressed interest in continuing to portray Sam Wilson / Captain America for the next decade. He is expected to appear in upcoming MCU projects, including "Avengers: Doomsday" (2026) and "Avengers: Secret Wars" (2027).
